History

The Swiss Society of Vancouver was originally founded in 1912 and was incorporated as a non-profit organization under the BC Society Act in 1948.Its purposes are to promote Swiss traditions and culture: exchange and understanding among Swiss people in BC; assist people of Swiss origin who are immigrants to BC in every possible way, to participate in the economic, professional and intellectual sectors of their new country; own, operate and/or manage a social club.

The 560 members, the Board of Directors, and the three subgroups of the SSV try to realize these goals through social activities, sport, events, recreational activities, and the publication of the "Swiss Herald".

The Swiss Society organizes annual dances, golf tournaments and special social events for the young families and seniors, as well as the celebration of the Swiss National Day together with the SCMRA, the Vancouver Dorfmusik, the SCCC(BC)Inc. and the Consulate General of Switzerland in Vancouver.
