The SCAV was founded in 1964 by adventurous Swiss - Canadians, at the spur of the moment, after taking part in a friendly competition in Switzerland. With a helping hand from the SSV, on the condition that SCAV become a subgroup, shooting got underway in the Spring of 1965.                                                                                                       The inauguration shoot was a Postal Match with the crossbowers of Kloten, Switzerland.
Postal Matches have been a staple feature in every annual program. That together with
various trophy competitions makes for an interesting season which lasts from early
Spring til late Fall.                                                                                                            Every five years some of our shooters travel to Switzerland to participate in the federal competition (Eidgenössisches Armbrustschützenfest) held each time in a different town. This is always a great experience for shooting as well as renewing the friendships with our many supportive friends.                                                                                         While the scores may vary from year to year, one thing remains constant:                         Good sportsmanship and enjoyable camaraderie!
